Ultrasound of the cervical lymph nodes

Ultrasound examination used to assess cervical lymph nodes. Enlargement or soreness of the lymph nodes are common symptoms of diseases of organs located in or around the neck (palatine tonsils, throat, sinuses, teeth, ears, salivary glands, thyroid, larynx) – such symptoms result from the reaction of the immune system. The enlarged lymph nodes can be caused by inflammation in viral or bacterial infections. Said enlargement can also be a symptom of cancer, leukaemia or lymphoma. Ultrasound examination is an imaging method involving ultrasonic waves. This technique is based on the phenomenon of reflection of an ultrasound beam against the structures of the organs.

·      A non-invasive examination – no special preparation is required.

·      Duration of the examination: approx. 15-20 minutes.

·      The patient is provided with the results of the examination in the form of an impression with           the ultrasound image. All documents are printed during the appointment, so the patient                 receives the original version of the results. The impression is also available online.

·      There are no contraindications to performing this examination.
