Dear patient, we are changing
for you!
Due
to the renovation of the facility, we are temporarily not carrying
out this examination.
See you soon!
It is a safe and non-invasive method
for detecting neoplastic lesions. The examination is performed on
the basis of a medical prescription in paper form (valid for 3
months), most commonly from an oncologist, surgeon, or a
gynaeco¬logist. The examination is performed in a standing
position. During the examination, a female breast is compressed
between the decoder and the plastic compression plate. The X-ray
pictures are taken in two projections: from the side and from
below. The mammography examines both breasts.
Mammography is, above all, a
preventive examination. The likelihood of developing breast cancer
increases with age. Whether or not a neoplastic process will
develop is also affected by hereditary genetic predispositions, the
family history of the disease, “dense” breast tissue, early
menstruation (before the age of 12), late menopause (after the age
of 55), high obesity following menopause, childlessness, birth of a
first child after the age of 30, and alcohol abuse.
Other indications for a mammography:
- Suspected presence of lesions in the breast based on such
symptoms as a tumour, nipple retraction, nipple discharge, a
cyst
- Pathological enlargement of axillary and/or subclavicular lymph
nodes
- As a follow-up examination following breast amputation
- After radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy to assess the degree of
breast tumour regression
- Long-term hormone replacement therapy of at least 10 years
- Gene (mainly BRCA1 and BRCA2) mutation carrier state
There are no contraindications to this examination.
