This package is designed for adult patients who want a comprehensive assessment of their heart and circulatory system, for both preventive screening and the diagnostics of possible complications following infections such as COVID-19 or flu.

Who is the screening intended for?

• Patients with heart diseases or suspected heart rhythm disorders - e.g., hypertension, atrial fibrillation, or heart failure.
• Patients with non-specific symptoms - such as chronic fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath - which may be of cardiac origin.
• Patients after infections, e.g., flu, COVID-19, or other seasonal respiratory infections - especially those experiencing shortness of breath, palpitations, fatigue, or other symptoms that may indicate cardiovascular complications.
• Patients aged 60+ - as part of preventive healthcare and heart function monitoring, even without apparent symptoms.
• Professionally or physically active patients - e.g., amateur athletes, manual workers - for assessing cardiac performance and detecting possible disorders.

Diagnostic tests included

• Resting ECG,
• Doppler echocardiography (ECHO),

Consultations included

• Nursing consultation: measurement of temperature and blood pressure, and performance of the resting ECG.
• Follow-up summary consultation with a cardiologist: after reviewing all results, the doctor will assess the patient’s cardiovascular health, discuss findings, and provide recommendations.

Scheduling and validity

After purchasing the package, a Medicover coordinator will call you to schedule visits, tests, and examinations at a convenient date, time, and location of your choice.

Validity: the package is valid for three (3) months from the date indicated in the order confirmation.

What will be assessed during the screening?

• Resting ECG - enables an initial assessment of suspected myocarditis and other electrical abnormalities.
• Doppler ECHO - evaluates cardiac structure, valve function, and contractility; includes measurements of blood flow across valves and overall cardiac performance.
• Holter ECG (24-hour) - continuous monitoring over 24 hours to assess conduction disturbances (slow heart rate) and arrhythmias, which can occur after flu or other viral respiratory infections; based on the results, the doctor may decide on appropriate treatment.
• Quantitative D-dimers (plasma) - a blood test that can indicate an increased risk of thromboembolism.

How to use the screening package?

Choose a convenient location First choose the city and the Medical Centre,where you would like to do the tests included in the screening. Next, fill out the form with your details and pay for the purchase at the MediStore or the reception desk.

How to book an appointment for screening tests? The screening coordinator will contact you by phone within 24 working hours of your purchase. He/she will propose convenient dates for “Healthy Heart Screening" tests and consultations at your preferred Medicover Centre. The coordinator will also be present during your stay at Medicover Centre and will personally direct you to the designated tests and consultations. For identification purposes, please bring a photo ID.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

• The check-up is aimed at adults over 18 years of age.
• You have 3 months (from the date indicated in your order confirmation) to complete the tests in the screening package.
• The tests can be performed at a Medicover Centre of your choice in the following Polish cities: Warsaw, Wrocław, Kraków, Katowice, Poznań, Szczecin, Łódź, Lublin, Kielce, Gliwice, Gdynia, Bielsko-Biała.
• To ensure the quality of test results, prepare yourself for blood and imaging tests according to recommendations.

How to prepare for the health check-up?

• Blood tests – on the day before the test limit physical activity, follow a light diet and do not drink alcohol

• EKG test (electrocardiogram) – the examination does not require any special preparation.

• Doppler ECHO – the examination does not require any special preparation.

• ECG holter - 24-hour monitoring of the heart rate – the ECG holter is sent to the patient by courier together with instructions on how to use it.

• Consultation with a cardiologist who has clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of post COVID-19 and flu complications – during the consultation, the doctor will take the patient’s medical history regarding the COVID-19 or flu infection and any post-disease symptoms. The doctor will assess them for potential cardiovascular complications. There will be a physical examination of the heart, lungs and peripheral vessels. Your blood pressure will be taken. The ECG and Echocardiogram will be assessed for signs of damage to the heart after COVID-19. Based on the Holter ECG results, the doctor will assess your heart rate over a 24-hour period. If any irregularities are suspected and/or found, further diagnosis, specialist physiotherapy and/or rehabilitation consultations will be recommended. Treatment will also be recommended. At the end of the visit, the doctor will give you a specially prepared package containing the following documents: a summary of the Health Check-up with recommendations and the original test results.

Please prepare for the tests in accordance with the above recommendations. If you fail to come prepared for the tests, they may not take place or their results may be difficult to interpret. Any re-examinations may be performed at the patient's expense.
